Carly's Trip to India!

You may recall Carly's trip to Japan and Korea last year, which had us longing for trendy fashions from the east and deliciously exotic foods. Well, our very own jet setter recently hopped a flight to Hyderabad, India where she's been galavanting around for the past few weeks. We thought it would be fun to share a few snaps of some of the sights she's been taking in!

Watch the clip below to see Carly travelling by taxi along the busy streets (she's now an old pro at playing chicken with a mack truck, two motorbikes, and a rickshaw), and follow Carly on Instagram for more behind the scenes fun!

Get home safe, Carly! We miss you!

2012: A Year in Photos

What a year we had in 2012! So much happened that we thought it would be fun to take a visual trip down memory lane and share some of our favorite moments from last year. It feels great to look back at all of the things we accomplished together -- from the website rebrand, to our amazing collaborations with independent artists and designers.

We're so grateful to our customers for supporting our little shop and joining us on this crazy ride! And of course, a huge thanks goes out to our amazing and talented friends who've helped out along that way. Here's to an even better 2013!

Take a look!

Meet the Model: Michaela

Meet Michaela, the beauty behind our last photo shoot! A fashion journalism student at the Academy of Art in San Francisco, Michaela is also behind the blog fashion415, which documents her life in the city as it relates to fashion, style and what inspires her.

Here's a brief chat we had with her and some fun outtakes from the shoot. Enjoy!

How do you describe your style?

My style is sort of a mix between my French heritage and an eclectic inspiration from my icons. And of course little bits and pieces found along the way. I don't think I can really define it much more than that. Some days I love bright bohemian caftans and the next I'm wearing head to toe black. I think that personal style is an amazing and strong thing that everyone has in them.

What are you up to when you’re not blogging?

When I'm not blogging and have the time I love to explore San Francisco and thrift. I am also really into the food scene here and would eat out every night if I could!

Any favorite moments from our shoot?

My favorite look from the shoot had to be the dress inspired by Jean Seberg in Breathless. That is one of my favorite films, so to shoot in that dress made me feel like her walking along the streets of Paris!

Introducing the Breathless Dress

We couldn't be more excited to unveil the final design for the winning entry to our Vintage Redux Contest hosted by For Me, For You! The custom designed dress is a re-imagining of the iconic striped dress worn by Jean Seberg in the French new wave film Breathless by Jean-Luc Godard. Created exclusively for Fancy French Cologne by New York based designer Vain & Vapid, the Breathless Dress is a modern take on the vintage frock, with a fresh silhouette, clever details, and flawless execution.

The striped dress features navy and white striped fabric with thin orange pinstripes, a contrasting white collar and button placket, as well as a high-low hemline and drop waist. Our favorite feature of the design is definitely the cut-out detail at the neckline, a really cool play on the classic neckline of original dress. The label's strong focus on quality fabrics, cut and construction really shine in this stunning dress!

The Breathless Dress is extremely limited, so be sure to shop while it lasts!

Special thanks to Kate Miss for hosting the contest on her blog, Julie from Vain & Vapid for designing the dress, and of course to everyone that entered!

Vintage Redux Contest: Unveiling Next Week!

Last year we teamed up with the lovely Kate Miss of For Me, For You and NY-based designer Vain & Vapid for the first installment of our Vintage Redux Contest. We couldn't be happier to report that it’s almost time to unveil the final result!

We invited enthusiasts of vintage fashion to submit an image of their personal fashion icon—be it Jane Fonda a la 1963, or a photo of their own mother looking hot in the ’70s—featuring a dress or top from the 1930s – 1980s. The winner would receive a recreation of their item, as re-imagined Vain & Vapid

Alica’s winning entry featured Jean Seberg’s iconic dress in the classic film, Breathless, beating out a really cool snap of Bonnie Parker and the lovely Ellsworth Kelly Dress that we blogged about this Spring.

The wait is almost over, and our very own custom designed, limited edition Breathless Dress will be revealed next week. Check back soon!
