Blog » Costume Crush: Suzy Bishop in Moonrise Kingdom
I saw Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom the other night and immediately fell in love with the main character, Suzy Bishop! Played by newcomer Kara Hayward, Suzy’s character is a brooding and sometimes violent little rascal who falls in love with a wayward boyscout named Sam. Set in 1965, the preteen wears the cutest micro minidress ever (and I do mean micro!) with knee highs and “Sunday school shoes.” Perhaps my favorite detail of Suzy’s costume—besides her tiny kitten and pair of binoculars—is the heavy pile of blue eyeshadow she wears. To be honest, it had me re-thinking the shade…
If you love Wes Anderson's other films, Moonrise Kingdom won’t let you down. Everything is perfectly styled in that vintage hue and the humor is as quirky and dry as ever. And of course it wouldn’t be a Wes Anderson film without a cast of lovable actors like Bill Murray (my absolute favorite person), Jason Schwartzman, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Harvey Keitel and some surprising and fun performances by Edward Norton and Bruce Willis.
Have you guys seen it yet? What did you think? Most importantly, should I try blue eyelshadow?!
